Wow, it's hard to believe today is Back to the Future Day - October 21, 2015 is finally here. In case you don't know, this is the day Marty and Doc visited in the "future" to set things right in the 1989 sequel to the original film. I remember sitting in the theater and being blown away by the film's depiction of the "far" future--a hopeful and bright future, in direct opposition to the darker futures of Blade Runner and Terminator.
And the films have influenced my life. In college, I wrote a paper comparing the "alternate histories" in BTTF2 and It's a Wonderful Life. After Samantha I started dating, one of her first gifts to me was getting my BTTF memorabilia professionally framed. And one of my books is about alternate history versions of the 9/11 attacks.
The Back to the Future trilogy has always been near and dear to my heart and the first film still remains my favorite movie of all time. Remember, the future isn't set: your future is whatever you make it.
